25 in 25: My Favorite Films of the First Quarter Century

2001 was an interesting year for film, and coincidentally, an interesting year for me as well. Cinema was in a great place in its history. Theaters were packed; we got multiple blockbusters every year, and indie cinema was thriving!

When it comes to me, my life was about to change drastically. My journey into cinema was a few years old, and I was fully invested in seeing every film I possibly could. But I was also about to start travelling the world with my band... And when I put it that way, 2001 seems like a distant memory.

I struggled with how to choose one film from each year. So, instead of choosing just one, I will choose my favorite film at the time of its release in 2001, and I will then choose my favorite film with the hindsight of age and maturity, and give a small discussion on both.

Starting with 2001, since that is the actual first year of the quarter, I will go year by year daily, until the end of the month!
